Caratteristiche del posto sono le case bianche in legno, le piccole imbarcazioni da pesca e la natura con le sue rocce particolarmente lisce e tondeggianti che creano un paesaggio incredibilmente suggestivo, da vedere! Sbarcando sul porto di Lyngør si incontrerà sicuramente Asbjørn Andersen , figura di spicco del luogo. Per promulgare la cultura locale, al primo piano del suo famoso ristorante Den Blå Lanterne egli, assieme ad un nucleo ristertto di persone, ha raccolto una quantità di reperti storici della zona creando così un museo destinato a crescere ulteriormente. L`esposizione prende il nome di Lyngør Kulturhistoriske Samlinger, è stata realizzata con la partecipazione del museo Naval a Horten e molti oggetti provengono dal museo di Aust  Agder e dalla gente del posto.
